Music at Emmaus

Music Teams: Two of the Emmaus music teams are always seeking new members. Talk to one of the music team leaders if you would like to participate on a team.

Festival Choirs sing for special services during the church year, including Christmas and Easter. Watch the bulletin and calendar for more information and rehearsal times. Come sing with us in the balcony!

Hand Bell Choir is in cooperation with Bethel Lutheran Church. Rehearsals are at Bethel Lutheran on Wednesday nights. For more information contact Bethel Lutheran.

Help with Worship Services

There are many ways to serve on Sundays…
Greeter – stand near the entrance prior to the service to say hello and make everyone feel welcome as they come into our church
Sound Tech – run the sound system during the service
Usher – Hand out bulletins, offer assistance, and many other important duties
Counter – carefully count the offerings after the service, prepare the deposit and deliver it to the bank
Acolyte – (typically an older child) lighting the candles, etc.
Lector – read the lessons aloud to the congregation as part of the worship service
Worship Assistant – assist the pastor especially during the distribution of Communion
Cantor – sing solos during sections of the liturgy
Altar Guild – prepare the sanctuary for worship by changing the paraments, filling Communion cups, preparing for baptisms, etc.

VBS and Sunday School

Helpers, teachers, treat servers, and administrators are all needed to help make our Vacation Bible School and Sunday School great times of learning and fellowship for the children. Members of Emmaus are encouraged to participate in these ways.

Emmaus Generations

Emmaus Generations is an opportunity for everyone to gather together in the Social Hall. Check the bulletin or calendar to see when we are meeting. Usual agenda: a meditation, a luncheon, and a topic of current interest or a project.

Quilting

The Emmaus Quilters are a group of women who tie quilts which will be sent to Lutheran World Relief and Orphan Grain Train for overseas missions. The quilters meet the first Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. in the Social Hall (no meetings over the summer).

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML)

LWML members participate in its mission of engaging in “servant” events in the community and supporting local, national and international mission projects. The members participate in zone rallies each spring and fall. You are invited to pick up a Mite Box from the narthex if you don’t already have one – watch the Sunday bulletin for collection times. Emmaus women participated in “Little Dresses for Africa,” a project of the LWML, by donating materials, time, talent, prayer, matching fabric and trim, and of course sewing! Dresses were made from pillow cases.

Cleanup and Building Care

Help keep Emmaus neat and tidy. In the spring and fall a Cleanup Day is scheduled for raking, organizing, polishing, and washing at Emmaus. More help is certainly welcome! Watch for further announcements and job cards in the narthex.

If you are good at fixing things, we could use your help! The Practical Services Committee is always on the lookout for volunteers to help with maintenance and repair projects around the church building.
