SEPTEMBER 10 we will return to our regular worship schedule with services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. and Education Hour at 9:45. This will be Rally Day (fall kickoff) for Sunday School.

JONATHAN FEDERWITZ: Join us for a time of fellowship with Jonathan Federwitz on Thursday, September 7th at 6:30 p.m. Jonathan will be in Minnesota for a short time on his way to an Aviation conference in North Carolina. THANK YOU ALL for your prayers and cards/caring thoughts as I wind up chemo for breast cancer. I have felt so uplifted by your support as I go through these nasty side effects. Hopefully by October I will be feeling much better! ~Pam

ATTENTION COUNTERS: On Sunday, September 10th after the 11:00 service we will be holding a short refresher training for counters in the Garden Room. Items to be covered will include a few changes on the recap sheet, elimination of the generation of the small Financial Secretary Recording Form. YOUTH GROUP MOVIE NIGHT: Come join us on Friday, September 22nd, for a movie and Bible Study from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Eat dinner beforehand and join us for some yummy movie snacks. QUILTING RESUMES… Anyone interested in tying quilts for Lutheran World Relief and the Orphan Grain Train is welcome to come Thursday, September 7th from 1-4 p.m. in the Social Hall. This is a change in meeting time from last year’s Wednesday schedule and we will continue on the first Thursday of each month through May. The group also has a large stash of donated fabric and if anyone would like to sew backs or tops for this project at home, contact Renata B.

MEAL TEAM NEEDED! The Social Ministry Committee is forming a meal team to prepare and serve lunch at The Family Place on Saturday, September 30. We need 5-8 adults or older children (6-12th grade) to meet once before the event and be at The Family Place from 10:00 until approximately 2:00. If you want to be on the team or want more information please talk to Marie G, Ron M, Lin I, Holly N, or Pastor Nick.

SUNDAY YOUTH BIBLE STUDY: Thanks to those who have volunteered to fill this position! Starting September 10th, there will be a Bible Study for middle school to high school aged students between the services. It will start at 9:45 and go to 10:45, and will meet every week that Sunday School does. If you have any questions, please talk with Josh and Katie M, or Pastor Kooi.

NAME BADGES: Use yours regularly so that all of us may know each other better and be more welcoming to visitors and guests. If you are an occasional or regular visitor, we would like to have a badge for you – just make a note on the Circle of Friends sheet. Please remember to return your badge to its place (alphabetical) on the rack before you leave.

BOX TOPS: Central Lutheran School is collecting Box Tops for Education. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents for the school, which can add up quickly and can help pay for equipment, events, and more. If you have Box Tops, you can easily drop them off in the office at Emmaus. Just place them in the blue box on the counter in the office and they will be taken to CLS.

THE LWML CAPITOL CONFERENCE FALL RALLY will be held Saturday, October 7 at Messiah in Mounds View beginning with 8:30 a.m. registration and breakfast. The theme is Connecting Students with Christ – Campus Ministry with speaker Rebecca Wagner, ULC missionary. JOB OPENING: Central Lutheran School, St. Paul, is in need of a Kitchen Coordinator from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm each day that school is in session. Duties include: Receiving daily lunches from our catering service, snack and breakfast preparation, clean-up and maintaining daily records and reports. Qualifications: Must hold a Safety Food Handler Certification or be willing to earn this certification (at the school’s expense) on the job. HYMN FESTIVAL WITH PHILLIP RADTKE: Inviting all music lovers and singers to partake in a Raucous Reformation at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran in South Minneapolis on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Singers will have an opportunity to join the festival choir, learn a few anthems and hymns, enjoy lunch together and perform the music they learn as part of a celebratory hymn festival celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
